Knitting #shiticandosober

Posted on Updated on

I used to knit. Especially when I was pregnant and sober. I wasn’t particularly skilled but I really enjoyed it. Tonight, I retaught myself at least the basics (actually youtube videos retaught me the basics). It feels really good to regain a hobby. I was so excited that I started a #shitIcandosober thread (?) on Twitter. Go on over and add your own. Hope everyone is hanging in. Have a beautiful night!

I swear we are brain linked. I was organizing the guest room and had a bin of yarn in the corner. S said, maybe put it downstairs in our bedroom so it’s not in the way. I said, well, what if she wants to knit if she can’t sleep?

I received knitting needles for Christmas. I’ve yet to take them out of the box. Ugghh. This is official, I am committing to taking them out today, opening up the book today, and getting started today. (It’s July) Thanks for the sweet reminder. I’m 49 and haven’t knit since I was a kid. This should be interesting.

I just went to Twitter and got all ready to add to your hashtag and couldn’t think of anything different like that that I do now I’m sober. I do a lot more of the stuff I used to do when drinking (cooking, looking at recipes, reading books, writing stuff, watching tele, um….) but there’s no new hobby as such.. so I abandoned the hashtag and came here instead. Maybe I should get a new hobby..? But I’m not very crafty. Anyway, love the idea. xxxx
